Send a message to the person who requested a photo of the grave monument of Thomas Vertue with the following comment:
Thomas Vertue was the husband of my great, great, great aunt, Lydia Vertue, nee Cutting. He was her cousin and in fact, the son of my great, great, great, great aunt, Lydia's aunt Mary Vertue, nee Cutting. Lydia Vertue (nee Cutting) was the youngest sister of my great, great grandfather, Thomas Cutting, who was born at Playford Hall, Suffolk. He joined the King's German Legion at the age of sixteen and he spent his working life in Germany, emigrating to South Australia in 1851 (arriving February 1852). Thomas had many siblings and Lydia's family may have retained contact with him, as they stayed with their uncle John Cutting (Thomas' eldest brother) who was a godparent to Thomas Cutting's eldest son. I am interested in my Suffolk heritage, although I have never been there. I live in South Australia. I think it is a wonderful service that you offer. I am very happy to supply what information I have, but it is all second hand - from family wills, British census records, etc. Regards, Alison Stephenson
